In September 2026 YMCA Ranchi will send two Indian Volunteers for a 1-Year

Volunteer Service in the social sector in Germany, most probably in Berlin.

Living and Working in a foreign country and culture for a year bears challenges and blessings alike and is definetely character-shaping and maybe even a life-changing experience.

In the frame of the South-North component of the German Government program called "weltwärts", YMCA Ranchi sends young Indians between 18-28 years of age to Germany who are interested to engage in a full-time volunteering in the social sector like in a Kindergarten or an Old Age Home. The program is fully funded with regard to the stay in Germany, including allowances for Food & Accommodation, Pocket Money, Health Insurance and local public traffic as well as the flight costs.

Selected Candidates shall:

• Be Interested in social work and volunteering

• Have good communication skills and be fluent in English

• Be willing and free to participate in the preparation period starting from May which includes:

  • Personal Coaching and Support

  • Input Sessions on Germany (History, Society, Education System, etc.)

  • Basic German Language Classes

  • getting to know your Sending Organisation, the YMCA Ranchi (participate in some of the events and programs)

  • Assistance in visa application process
